Planting in Room 8

What a difference a few weeks makes...

We paid a visit to the garden today to see how our onions were coming along. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the onions are doing very well. We even found a few potatoes growing that didn't grow last year!

Room 8 have Green Fingers!

As part of Our Global Citizenship project we have been linking with a school in New Dehli in India.  We sent them some vegetable seeds that we grow in Ireland and they sent us some apple gourd seeds. We had never heard of this fruit before so we looked it up online and found some                                                         pictures. We think they look a little bit like a watermelon! We are really                                                         looking forward to tasting the fruit so fingers crossed it will grow in our                                                         colder climate.

Here we are planting the apple gourd

We filled the window box with soil and used a ruler to make sure we spaced our seeds apart to give them room to grow

Here we are planting the carrots

We used trays with individual pots for the carrots because they often wrap themselves around each other if they are planted too close together. The carrot seeds are tiny!

Out in the Garden

We used a stick to make holes in the ground and put the onion bulbs into the soil
